Her undergraduate education was in the Pacific Northwest at Seattle Pacific University. She has completed clinical training and conducted research on outcomes associated with various types of trauma (interpersonal victimization, abuse, combat and war, motor-vehicle accidents, natural disasters) and how to treat traumatic stress. Dr. Artime has published her research in a variety of academic journals including Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy.

Therapeutic Style

Dr. Artime's approach to psychotherapy is based on principles of evidence-based practice. After a thorough assessment of your presenting concerns, together you will collaborate to identify your goals for counseling. She primarily uses cognitive and behavioral interventions (CBT) and some acceptance-based interventions such as mindfulness and emotion-regulation skill building. She also uses some aspects of narrative and constructivist therapies which aim to discover the role of culture and our environment on our problems, and she relies on emotion-focused therapy for couples. Her hope is that through the uniqueness of the therapeutic relationship and with the assistance of research-supported interventions, you might explore new ways of thinking about yourself and the world and adopt new behaviors and skills which are consistent with your goals. She believes it is a great privilege to share part of this journey with you.
